Dentists switch to new pay system based on 'quality'

The government has confirmed: dentists in England will be paid for the quality than the quantity. New dental practices will be use experimentally. Nowadays dentists have paid for a set number of courses of NHS treatments. Currently the system dentists will be paid per patient, not per treatment. The best clinic will be reward for special care. It will be good incentive to improve quality. According to National Health Service more than one million fewer patients visited an NHS dentists in the two years after the introduction of the 2006 contract than the two years before. The new approach it will good for patients, a specially better to use of NHS resources. Health Minister Lord Howe said: "We want our reforms to give dentists the encouragement they are looking for to provide a service that meets the needs of today's population, and which fosters positive habits from an early age."

I decided to change design of my blog. I think it's looks better now, because is more colourful, and titles are more visibly.

Child sunbed use: Firms face huge fines

The Sunbed (Regulation) Act 2010 forbids teenagers using sunbeds in places including salons, gyms and hotels. According to cancer experts this change would help protect children from developing skin cancer in later life. Diagnostic shows that, on average, 6% of 11 to 17-year-olds in England use sunbeds, rising to 50% of 15 to 17-year-olds girls in Liverpool and Sunderland. Data published by Cancer Research UK earlier this week showed more than two people under the age of 35 are diagnosed with malignant melanoma - the deadliest form of skin cancer - every day in the UK. For local authorities it will be hard to check businesses are complying with the law, such as spot-checks or pre-planned visits. This new law could be protect people under-18s from the dangers from skin cancer. The World Health Organization has classified sunbed use in its highest risk category for cancer, alongside tobacco
It’s better to to take care in the sun than using sunbeds said Dr Elizabeth Rapley, from the Institute of Cancer Research.

Money woes 'linked to rise in depression'
Economic problems may be fuelling a rise in depression in England, it has been suggested.

Prescriptions for anti-depressant drugs such as Prozac rose by more than 40% over the past four years data obtained by the BBC shows. GPs and charities said they were being contacted more and more by people struggling with borrowing and job problems. They said financial debts and other problems cause a rise in depression.
Department of Health figures showed that in the last year more and more people
are receiving therapy treatment nearly 600,000. They feel they can't deriver for their family and it can be often act as a trigger for depression. But now and people in general are getting much better information about what it is depression. The figures, obtained from NHS Prescription Services under the Freedom of Information Act, cover anti-depressant prescribing from 2006 to 2010, during which time the country had to cope with the banking crisis, recession and the start of the spending cuts.
